Samarkand Global's Executive Director, Philip Smiley, joined the Global Trade Review (GTR) annual conference in London on 20 June 2023.
Alongside Phil the panel of esteemed speakers included Mark Ling (Santander Corporate & Commercial Banking), Guy Schanschieff, MBE, DL (Bambino Mio®), Susanna Kow (Vimto) and Jessica Parrish (MBA) (Shedid & Parrish Ltd).
This group of leading industry experts covered all manner of themes across the topic of "Exporter Stories – Removing Barriers to International Trade". Discussions considered trade policies, greater access to finance for SMEs and MSMEs and improved training in areas such as online platforms and eCommerce. The panel touched on how easy it is for exporters to access the benefits of trade deals, as well as what measures could be taken to close the gap between policy and implementation to practically support trade.
